bP mONITORING
Blood pressure is a measure of how much force is being used to push blood up the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood around the body. If your arteries become narrower or do not stretch as much, the pressure increases. Persistently high blood pressure, known as hypertension, increases the risk of developing heart disease, kidney disease or a stroke.
Your blood pressure may vary throughout the day depending on when you eat or drink, your stress levels or your level of activity. Measuring your blood pressure during periods of rest provides the most accurate results. You have a higher risk of health problems if both your systolic and diastolic blood pressure are high.
Persistently low blood pressure can also cause problems, including fainting and dizziness. Although usually less serious, low blood pressure can be a sign of serious conditions in some individuals.
Blood Pressure
Blood pressure is a measurement of the force applied to the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood around the body.
It is recorded with two numbers:
- Systolic blood pressure (top number) – the pressure when the heart contracts.
- Diastolic blood pressure (bottom number) – the pressure when the heart relaxes between beats.
Persistently raised blood pressure is called hypertension, which is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, kidney disease and stroke. Low blood pressure (hypotension) can sometimes cause dizziness or fainting.
Blood pressure naturally varies with activity, posture, emotions and time of day.
A single blood pressure reading may not reflect your usual level, and should be interpreted in context with other results and measurements.
Result: 137 / 87 mmHg

Intravenous Blood Collection
Your heart is the most important muscle in your body.
Monitoring cardiovascular health allows early detection of risk factors such as raised cholesterol or inflammation.
